First Journal!

I suppose I must get the necessary, "Hello World!" out of the way first.
Now that that is over with, I suppose too that I must write a journal entry. Admittedly, I am new to this- and I have yet to finish all of the reading for the week. I am through chapter 4, not far, but a sizable chunk of the way through this week's assignment.
I am not quite sure what to think yet. I like the book, but am a bit confused. Yes, she broke Geraldo's nose. Yes, Dolly betrayed her. Yes, she is in the madhouse. But, is Luciente real? At the moment, I am not sure. After having watched movies like "the Sixth Sense," et cetera- I am afraid the end will come with a few short words about how she was actually mad the whole time. Aside from this uncertainty, I enjoy reading this book. I like that it is almost entirely an internal monologue, the inside voice of a woman fighting everything that is external to her.
Also, I hope that this does not come off as imposed moral judgement, but the future kind of sucks. Everyone has a bit of technology, but it seems what I imagine rural Iowa is like in Star Trek. To imagine that the settlement/village Connie visits is comparable with pretty much everything else around is lame to say the least. I do find it funny that all the watch computers are called "kenners," because from German I know that that roughly translates to "knowers." I just thought that it was kind of funny. Nonetheless, I am not sure I would like to live in that future. I do not know why, but I just feel that it is a little too... something. I am not sure yet. But it is disconcerting to me somehow. As I read further, perhaps I will get a better feel for why I do not like this particular future.
